Dax Watson, the Managing Partner of the firm’s Phoenix office, with the assistance of Corey Richter, assisted a real estate investment company involved in a protracted dispute with a partner in a joint venture. The partnership dissolved after ten years and each sought proceeds from a project they had completed. The matter ended up in a four day jury trial. At the conclusion of the trial, the jury found in favor of Mr. Watson’s clients and awarded them all of the proceeds and attorneys’ fees.
Soon thereafter, Mr. Watson, with the assistance of John Browder, successfully defended a real estate brokerage that was being sued by both a Buyer and a Seller in a failed real estate transaction. The Buyer and Seller were litigating over who was entitled to $150,000 in earnest money. At the same time, each was making claims against the brokerage for allegedly failing to procure and/or secure the earnest money in their favor. This matter too went to a four day jury trial. Mr. Watson navigated the arrows being shot from both Buyer and Seller and secured a complete defense verdict in favor of the brokerage.
